WEDDING BAR IDEAS AND WHY I LOVE ALL THE DIFFERENT KINDS!

Bars are a wonderful way to represent who you are as a couple at your wedding. A standard bar stocking the basics is absolutely essential, but there’s every reason to highlight your favourites on the day in different ways!

If you are a huge bubbly fan, why not dedicate a space to a champagne bar with gorgeous glasses stacked beautifully? A little suggestion is to have a waiter dedicated to pouring and serving the bubbly for guests. You don’t want any accidents spoiling the look and vibe.

Everyone loves a refreshing G&T and we are all very familiar with a bar solely dedicated to this winning cocktail! You can never have too much of a good thing, so even if you’ve seen a 100 gin bars, don’t be put off by this idea. Find different ways to display the cranberries, pomegranates, cinnamon sticks, raspberries, mint, lemon, cucumbers and blueberries and throw in some items your guests won’t necessarily expect like earl grey tea, lime juice, star anise, edible flowers, rose petals, thyme and rosemary. A thoughtful touch is to have some combinations with different tonic waters and toppings ready for your guests to taste should they want to try the suggested combos before committing!

Don’t underestimate a table filled with glass dispensers showcasing colourful drinks available to your guests. You can have “spiked” and “virgin” options and let guests have fun sampling everything during cocktail hour.

Any drink station of your choice can be created using a funky drinks trolley – these are ALL the rage right now! Options include the classic gold mirrored trolley, the industrial pewter version, a metal frame with glass shelves, gold antique castor wheels or your rustic wooden one. Pick one that suits your overall wedding look and you may even decide to buy one to use at the wedding, but take home to use in your marital home.

You can also use what we call a “conversation table” which is a longer cocktail table at elbow height and finish it off with a gorgeous greenery installation overhead. Place an A-frame structure full of glasses close by for guests to help themselves to prevent the crazy rush at the bar.

Finish off any bar you decide on with customized menus, swizzle sticks with your monogram, witty signs, cute cocktail napkins and ice cubes in different shapes or with frozen mint inside and you’re good to go!

Traditional plated desserts are slowly becoming less popular because its inevitably served when your guests are ready to start the party with you and dance the night away. That’s why we love a dessert bar with your wedding cake taking centre stage (or table) proudly! Add various treats to cater for your guest’s different tastes from doughnuts to ice cream, nut clusters to nougat and sweets to macaroons, Don Pedro’s to hot chocolate, there are endless possibilities to have fun!

Being creative with how you display your dessert station also provides a talking point for guests! Vintage vanity tables, an ice cream truck or an old school bicycle with a cooler box in front, or plinths in various heights set up perfectly to display everything on offer, are all good options.

Cigar bars are very indulgent, sophisticated and somewhat naughty! Offer your guests a selection of cigars and capture some amazing smoky shots before your photographer leaves at the end of the night.

Instead of leaving a few items in the ladies’ bathroom, why not set up a stunning vanity station bar for you (the bride) and guests to use in a secluded spot. Imagine a gorgeous chandelier overhead providing ladies with the perfect lighting to fix their make up and hair. Add thoughtful touches like hair pins, spray, deodorant, a needle and thread for clothing emergencies, Panado, antacid, tampons, plasters and peppermints to provide them with anything they may need on the day.

Lastly, but most importantly, we absolutely love the idea of a coffee bar. I mean who doesn’t love being able to order a coffee at a dedicated station – its always such a treat. There are so many ways to make it personalised and quirky… we made the most awesome coffee cup sleeves for one of our weddings which were designed with the couples name, together with the wording: ‘The Perfect Blend’.

Whichever bars you choose for your magical day, we will makesure to set the BAR high and make sure it’s done really beautifully.
